Geothermal energy: energy from the earth

Geothermal energy makes use of hot water from layers of sand and rock at depths of around 500 metres or more. This hot water is pumped to the surface and used to heat your greenhouse. Not every location is suitable for geothermal energy, as the subsurface must meet specific requirements to develop a geothermal source. Nevertheless, an increasing number of geothermal sources are becoming available across Europe, creating more opportunities for horticultural businesses to connect to one in the future.
