A future-oriented solution for greenhouse heating.

Geothermal heat, also known as ground source heat, is a completely renewable energy source that is increasingly being employed in greenhouse horticulture. By harnessing heat from the earth, greenhouse businesses can replace fossil fuels and drastically reduce their CO₂ emissions.

Geothermal heat: renewable energy from the earth

Geothermics makes use of hot water located in sand and rock layers from a depth of 500 metres. By drilling, this hot water is pumped to the surface and converted into energy to heat your greenhouse. Not every site is suitable for geothermal energy, because the underground layers must have certain properties to realise a geothermal energy source. Within Europe, we are seeing more and more geothermal resources emerging, however, increasing the chances that there is a source available (now or in the future) to which you can connect your greenhouse business. HORCONEX can help you prepare and integrate geothermal energy within your greenhouse.
